Living with a Terminally Ill Child: Evan Newport’s Story

If you’ve visited DifferentDream.com in the past, perhaps you’ve read the posts about Evan Newport and his family. Evan was born with Noonan’s Syndrome, a heart condition that leads to early death. Doctors expected Evan to die before he was a year old, but he outlasted their predictions. He lived for seven years, and his father openly shares both the joys and pain of parenting their son.
Take a Gander
Evan’s dad, Scott, shares many of his emotions through writing. Recently, one of his stories was published at www.childrenshospitals.net. In it, he tells how the people at Mott Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan supported their entire family while they cared for Evan.

You can also listen to CBS Radio Show Host Alisa Zee interview Scott about life with Evan at www.everettmarshall.com. Though Scott and his family are still grieving for Evan, who died less than a year ago, Scott’s story will bring you hope.

Scott and his family would love to know Evan’s life is still impacting others. So if Scott’s words touch your heart, leave a comment and I’ll pass them on. If you’re grieving the loss of your child and need support, please email me. No one should grieve the loss of a child alone.
