Nathaniel’s Hope Buddy Break

A few days ago, I posted an article about www.SpecialNeedsBridge.com, the informational website developed by Julio and Ruthey Morales. At their website, I noticed the Nathaniel’s Hope/Buddy Break graphics sprinkled here and there. Curious, I dug around and learned about this wonderful organization.
Buddy Break
Buddy Break is a free respite service for parents of special needs kids. Nathaniel’s Hope helps local Florida churches set up monthly respite programs, trains volunteers, and helps process applications for clients (called VIPs). Even if your church is not located in Florida, you will want to visit the website for information about how the program runs. It may give you ideas about how to start your own respite care program.
Other Programs at Nathaniel’s Hope
Nathaniel’s Hope has developed several other ways to support families with special needs kids. If you go to the events and programs page, you’ll find links to their VIP Birthday Club and Caroling for Kids. By examining successful programs like these, you may think of ways to adapt them to your world.
On the same page, you’ll find a link that takes you to the history of how Nathaniel’s Hope started. If you’re the parent of a special needs child, be sure to read the story and see how one family is using their experience to bless others. Maybe it will help you think of ways to touch special needs parents in your part of the world with hope, too.
